Simple as that.

Lowered and tucking tire.

Excessive drop (rubbing and scraping everything ), excessive camber, basically any modifications to the suspension that make driving dangerous...
Just my 2 cents

A car so low that I can't see the top of the rim. This does not include low-riders with skirts. The VW in the above picture to me is just low. I guess maybe I see 'stanced' in the derogatory, extreme sense.

But also, stanced=/=slammed. Lets get some examples
Stanced
Not really either

To me, 'stanced' is just a way of saying badly done/ruined.

Stance: A custom suspension height and/or camber that is a detriment to the driveablity and/or overall health of the vehicle

'stance' is just a general term, I don't consider certain cars 'stanced'
I consider it stupid when it adversely affects the function of the car without providing a performance benefit.

I hope you're forced to drive a bone stock camery as a DD for a minimum of 5 years.

My $.02
Stanced - suspension/wheel/tire choice with a conscious aesthetic goal in mind. It doesn't have to be super low, or flush, or anything specific, really. The thing is most road cars tend to look better when they're a little lower to the ground than stock - concept cars and production cars in press photos usually have cars sitting a little lower, because it's just more attractive. On the other hand I would consider a lifted bro-truck to be stanced as well - the suspension/wheels/tires are made to look tough.
My term for a really low car could be "slammed".

Stanced is when the wheels or rims are flush or very close with the fender and have more camber than normal.
Slammed is when your car is extremely low to the ground and the wheels are usually tucked inside the fenders.
IMO.

Lowered beyond reasonable use, usually also accompanied by off camber and stretched tires. Typically on foreign and/or smaller cars.

I'm fine with stretched tires, They sometimes have to work. But I'm not a fan of stance that is so stance-y that the car becomes more or less useless unless the road is like super flat or something like that.

I almost always dislike seeing the rim of a car stick out past the tire.

Everyone of those looks so good. Although the ones with stretched tires could do with wider tires or narrower rims.

Stance- A subset of aesthetic car culture, which is defined by its characteristics. Usually extreme camber, stretched tires, and rolled fenders all to fit the largest rim combination possible, in addition suspensions are usually modified with coilovers or cut springs instead of air bags and hydraulics. This aesthetic places pride on eliminating ground clearance and scraping, over say lowering the center or gravity for handling or using air bags for slammed parking and normal drive-ability. Many car rights advocates accuse stance of ruining many great cars and tearing many a subaru downpipe on.

Stanced is where is is lowered, with minimal camber.
Slammed/dropped is when the top or the tire/rim is hidden in the wheel well
Hellaflush/stanced out is how I describe the aberrations that look like stepped on hot wheels (excessive camber with stupidly stretched tires).
